Who We Are

The African Democracy and Governance Hub is an independent, non-profit pan-African NGO dedicated to advancing democratic governance, civic participation, and accountable institutions across the continent.

Born from Africa, for Africa

The African Democracy and Governance Hub was founded with a singular conviction: that democratic governance in Africa must be championed, sustained, and advanced by Africans — drawing on the continent's rich traditions of community governance, consensus-building, and collective accountability.

Established as an independent, non-partisan institution, ADGH was created to fill a critical gap in the African governance landscape — an organisation with deep continental roots, rigorous research capabilities, and the convening power to bring together governments, civil society, academia, and citizens around shared democratic governance goals.

Our founding mandate aligns fully with the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) and the African Union's Agenda 2063 vision of “An Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law.”
